Tahni Loses The Training Wheels!

Tahni had asked for a chance to try riding her bike without training wheels a few times now, and today we gave her a chance. Dave took her out expecting to hold on to her bike the whole time, and to pick her up and dust her off a few times. After holding on for a few minutes, he let her try it by herself. She nailed it! He never had to hold the bike again, and, for Tahni, there was no looking back. Dave gave her a lot of tips, and she was very receptive, learning on the fly! There'll be no holding her back now!

Tahni's Dance Recital

Tahni had another dance recital on June 4th. Dave didn't have the camera ready for her first number so we only caught the end of it. She did such a great job and looked so cute in her costume! Greyson found an opportunity to play with his friend, Miles, whose sister was also in the dance class.

Winston's First Steps!

Winston's been flirting with walking for the last couple of weeks, regularly taking one or two baby steps. Today, he did his first bit of real walking! He did this a bunch more after the camera was off, so he'll probably be walking all the time pretty soon.

Winston is growing and changing so fast. The first picture we posted was minutes after he was born. Now that his swelling and bruising are gone you get a better idea what he looks like.

Winston David Smith joined our family at 3:03 pm on 4/26/10. He weighs 8 lb 6.7 oz & is 20.5" long. He and Mommy are both doing well!

At Daddy's work party we got to visit the North Pole and see Santa!!

Once upon a time there was a cute little frog...

and a beautiful little princess.

One Halloween evening they ventured out to find candy.

"I found some!"

The princess was too polite to carry her candy in her mouth.

"Here's some more!"

The princess was very pleased with all the treats she had collected in her pumpkin bucket!
She was determined to protect it.

The frog tried everything to get to the good stuff.

We then went home and the kids got to check out their loot!

Tahni loved to help hand out candy to the rest of our trick-or-treaters at home...

and model her beautiful dress...

I just had my 1st birthday party!!

I was very intrigued by my dinosaur cake, after all it was my very first cake.

A Big thanks to Daddy, Grandma Smith and Aunt Jennie for helping with my Dinosaur cake.

I love playing with my Grandpa. I can get away with most anything.
"Hold still Grandpa I am rolling this ball over your face."

As you can see all of my grandparents came for my birthday party.
And we all went to the Bronco game.

I loved all my presents! I could really get used to this birthday stuff!

Where's Daddy's Remote??

So Dave has been looking for his TV remote now for about 3 months. After asking Tahni several times about his remote he concluded that Tahni must have thrown it away and has been shopping online for a new one. He has commented here and there about how he has found a good deal on some fancy universal remote - only about $100.00. My reply is usually "I just can't see how spending $100.00 on a REMOTE could be a good deal. I bet we will find it around somewhere." One day I asked Tahni to find her shoes and put them on. But she could only find one of them and I told her to go look again and if she still couldn't find it I would come and help her. A few minutes later she yelled "I found it mom". I said "Oh good, now put it on" and Tahni came out of her room giggling and told me I was silly. She didn't find her shoe she found daddys remote behind her bed. I told her "GREAT!! Daddy will be so excited that you found his remote - it will be a very special surprise for him." Since Tahni just had her birthday she knew exactly what a surprise was and then insisted that we surprise daddy properly.

So we wrapped up daddy's remote to give to him when he came home for lunch.

Tahni was so excited to give daddy his special surprise! She could hardly stand it.

Tahni took very special care. She wrapped it, put on some ribbon, then she added the foam stickers and finally the personalized tag.

Daddy's home! Every time Tahni hears the garage door open she runs to meet her daddy. This time she did the same, quickly told him that she had a surprise for him, and ran back in the house and waited to give it to him.

Here you go Daddy! Here's your special surprise!

Daddy was very impressed with all the detail and could tell that she had worked very hard on his special surprise!

Daddy's curiosity was peaked. Hmmm.... what could this special surprise be?

Daddy loved his surprise!! It was just what he was hoping for but he did not expect it.

"Where did you find my remote? I have looked all over for it."

Daddy was very glad to have his remote back...so was mommy.

Tahni LOVED blowing out the candles so much that we had to do it 3 times (because she was now 3) after the third time she asked to do it again and dad said "Well lets not do it again we already did it 3 times because you are 3" . With a sheepish look Tahni then said "4?"

Then it was time to eat the Pablo Cake but Tahni was very concerned - she didn't want to hurt Pablo. So she ate his shoe. We didn't tell her the part that Daddy and Greyson shared.

We went to Chuck e Cheese and had lunch which worked out perfect because all they really serve for food there turned out to her most favorite...pizza.

Tahni couldn't wait for her birthday to come. So the morning of Sept 2 she knew exactly was was going on when she woke up to find her dining room table full of presents and goodies.
